The Burraneer Rugby Union Club's under-14s boys team, coached by Simon Bennett, will travel to Fiji for a rugby tour this school holidays.
It will be a great learning experience for the boys that will hopefully promote some lifelong bonds while allowing the players to be immersed in another culture.
The annual trip is an initiative that the club organises each year for their under-14s team to promote mateship, teamwork and giving back. The team will play three games on the tour against local clubs. They will also take over rugby gear and equipment to donate to the local clubs and build some new relationships.
To give the rugby team and their families a good send off before the Fiji trip the club had a farewell barbecue at their Caringbah clubhouse on Sunday. Sponsor Ausgrills and executive chef Jamie Gannon from Terminus, Pyrmont and the Fassnidge group, Miranda Hotel cooked up a feast using the new TEC grill, which is the only barbecue in Australia to cook with 100 per cent infrared technology.
The Burraneer club is the largest and most successful junior rugby club in the southern Sydney region and have been so for more than 60 years.
The club takes great pride in providing the best possible facilities and support structure to ensure that each of their teams are fully prepared and resourced, maximising their potential to enjoy their chosen sport and forge some lifelong connections and develop good people.
