Scott Sorensen says there is no chance Newtown will take Wentworthville lightly in the Canterbury Cup grand final on Sunday.
The Jets and the Magpies will look to continue their fairy tale runs to the decider after the pair finished seventh and eighth respectively after the regular season.
Newtown, feeder side for NRL club Cronulla, have a number of Sharks contracted players in their squad including Ronaldo Mulitalo, Sione Katoa, Blayke Brailey, Jayson Bukuya, Billy Magoulias, Will Kennedy, Aaron Gray and Sorensen.
Sorensen has made 25 career appearances in the NRL, including five this season for the Sharks. The 26-year-old will captain Newtown in the decider as they attempt to go one better than their grand final defeat to Canterbury last season.
The Cronulla back-rower said his side would be prepared for Wentworthville and would not be settling to finish runners-up again.
"Wentworthville are healthy and fit, so we have to understand that this is not going to be a walk-through and lift the trophy," he said.
"We have a hard battle ahead of us. We're up for the challenge and can't wait."
As well as the Canterbury Cup decider, played for the first year of a five-year deal at Bankwest Stadium, South Sydney will also take on Canberra in the Jersey Flegg Cup grand final at Parramatta.
Wentworthville captain Josh Hoffman said he hoped the Magpies would finish their season on a high having, like Newtown, won three consecutive elimination finals to reach the grand final,
"This year was pretty hard, players were coming in and out of positions and we couldn't get our combinations right," Hoffman said.
"Finally, we got it right and it's come at the most important time of year."
NSWRL CEO David Trodden said it promised to be a strong weekend of grand finals, with Cabramatta to also take on Ryde-Eastwood and Wentworthville to battle St Mary's in the Sydney Shield and Ron Massey Cup deciders at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday.
"There's plenty of intriguing storylines in every game and I'm sure the players will provide plenty of excitement in their quest for premiership glory," he said.
The NSWRL is offering emergency services personnel free entry to the grand finals to honour their contribution to the community.
