My concern with those who in good conscience want to criminalise abortion is that there can be consequences which they ignore.
Imagine being the cop who has to arrest a mother of four because she thought that five would be too many and to take her away in handcuffs leaving the kids to do the washing-up.
Imagine knowing, or suspecting, that a friend or colleague has had an abortion.
Would that make you an accessory if you do not report it?
Jail time for the young woman who was raped while too drunk to fight or flee?
It is hypocritical to want a law without any intention of enforcing it but only to feel good about having it on the books.
