Luciana Valentina is a young singer songwriter from Bexley trying to make sense of the world she lives in using the language of jazz and the spirit of the blues.
A storyteller, Luciana Valentina crafts songs that deal with the human experience with powerful poetry and delicate musicality.
She brings her Latin upbringing (she is Colombian) into her music which is eclectic and quirky, with clear urban and Latin influences, aiding her in creating a unique sound, a different genre altogether.
Valentina's latest single reflects her persona: fresh, light and at the same time unusually mature.
Wind up Dolls, which was released on September 13, is about breaking society's mould of the mundane in search of individuality.
On the single Valentina sings of breaking society's mould of the mundane for the exploration of individuality:"Underground they push our voices in/ we're wind up dolls, they pull our strings to sing/many will hear/ few will understand/ that's ok though/ because only few can".
Wind Up Dolls' depth surprises the listener. It is only after you start singing along and tapping the floor that its big ideas sink in.
Luciana Valentina, who is studying at AIM (The Australian Institute of Music), has drawn from the wide musical palette that is a part of her and the richness of her upbringing to create unambiguously poetic and very intelligent Pop.
