Sri Lanka scored a thrilling super-over victory against a Cricket Australia XI at Hurstville Oval on Friday.
The tour match was a warm up for the Sri Lanka side who took on Australia in the first of three T20 internationals on Sunday.
The CA XI restricted Sri Lanka to 8-133 after losing the toss, with vice-captain Heather Graham (3-17) leading the way with three wickets.
St George-Sutherland Slayers product Tahlia Wilson was chosen in the CA XI side and was given the nod to bat at No.5. But Sugandika Kumari trapped Wilson leg before wicket first ball of her innings.
An unbeaten 48 to all-rounder Annabel Sutherland had the CA XI in the box seat to chase down the total but a late Sri Lanka fightback saw the runs dry up. Needing seven runs to win off the last over, the CA XI could only muster six through Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield (12), sending the game to a super over.
The CA XI went about setting a target through Sutherland and captain Tahlia McGrath. But McGrath was bowled second ball to bring Graham to the crease. Vice-captain Graham faced the remaining four deliveries, scoring six runs to set the visitors nine runs for victory.
Graham then took the ball but conceded four off the first delivery to give Sri Lanka the advantage.
Chamari Athapaththu worked the ball around to take her side past the total with a ball to spare.
It was a good warm up for Athapaththu, who smashed 113 in Sri Lanka's 41-run loss to Australia at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.
