I agree with Matt G, Cronulla (Your View, September 25) the real issue is that dogs are not on leashes.
I walk regularly with my dog on leash around Don Lucas Reserve, which has the path down to the off-leash dog beach. Owners let their dogs off-leash as soon as they get out of the car and they around the park.
My small dog has been set upon by these dogs and when I have confronted owners, I have been abused.
I have complained to council and they send the rangers, however the culprits are usually there in the early hours of the morning so they don't get caught.
I would hate to see the off-leash beach area closed because of a few who do the wrong thing.

I'm not surprised about the number of people complaining about dog poo and off-leash dogs on the Esplanade at Cronulla.
Unfortunately this problem occurs all over the shire. I walk my dogs regularly in lots of different places all over the shire and there's dog poo everywhere! It gives responsible dog owners a bad rap.
Not to mention dogs off the leash in areas where they should be on the leash. My dogs don't enjoy being rushed by off-leash dogs. It happens a lot and I'm sick of it.
I'm sick of being told my dogs should be better socialised, by owners who have their over-friendly, badly behaved off-leash dogs rushing at my two.
If they kept their dogs on the leash, there would be no problems. Put your dog on the leash or go to an approved off-leash area!
