Bexley label Portia & Scarlett made its debut at New York Fashion Week this year.
The September fashion parade shone a light on the St George designer brand, which was one of six Australian labels in Fashion Palette's runway.
It showcased its Spring/Summer Women's Ready-To-Wear 2020 collection.
Fashion Palette launched in 2012 as a platform to connect Australian brands exclusively to the global market of buyers, journalists and influencers.
Now in its eighth year, it has rapidly gained a reputation for acting as a springboard for independent Aussie talent.
The Bexley formal eveningwear label on 436 Forest Road is a branch of the label, which is stocked in more than 250 retail stores across the world. It launched in 2012.
It is headed up cousins Vicki, 36, and Danielle, 34, Vlahos, who were thrilled to show their label as part of the diverse line-up on an international stage.
With more than 700,000 Instagram followers and the highest turnover of bridesmaid gowns Australia-wide, Portia & Scarlett is surely positioned to expand even further.
"We always do a massive show in America called World of Prom in Atlanta," Vicki said. "We've always dressed contestants for pageants - Miss World and Miss USA.
"We're inspired by high-end glamour - lots of beading and glitz, going back to the 90s when Versace was a big inspiration. We based the collection on the pageants.
"We had 18 designs and we really target the global market. Australia is only 10 per cent of our business. We really focus on the UK and the US but we've got our sights on Europe and Paris Fashion Week in 2020."
