Re the article "Surf club hurdle: Concrete cancer adds $300,000 to rebuild" (Leader, October 2).

Hardly surprising given the age, location and construction. Will be great when completed. So nice to see an historical building preserved!

Better build an additional couple of levels of apartments just to make sure the project meets budget.

How did they not know there was going to be concrete cancer in it! Even if they didn't you would have found it within a month of demo not 18 months later! There should have been an allowance in the contract for that, given the age of the building. The builder has a lot to answer for!
