It was good to see the federal government and Georges River Council combining to do something positive for Myles Dunphy Reserve ("Newly improved nature boardwalk", Leader, September 25).
Though the mayor, Kevin Greene, is enthusiastic about the project it seems he's not aware that the reserve is currently closed due to the presence of phytophthora virus, which kills trees and is spread by walkers.
A report to mitigate the spread of the virus was prepared by the council in March last year but so far nothing has been done.
Unfortunately walkers should steer clear of the reserve until the situation improves and I believe the installation of the boardwalk was premature.
