A woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing in excess of $40,000 worth of jewellery and cash while working in the support service industry.
Police have been told that between December 2018 and October 2019, jewellery and cash has been stolen from the homes of terminally ill and disabled people in suburbs including Bexley.
Officers attached to the Campsie, Burwood and Blacktown Police Area Commands commenced an investigation into the alleged incidents.
At 2.20pm on Thursday, a 46-year-old woman was arrested at a shopping centre in Blacktown while allegedly attempting to sell stolen jewellery.
It is alleged that the woman has sold stolen items in five known pawn stores in Blacktown, providing false information on each occasion.
The 46-year-old, from Blacktown, is employed by numerous support agencies within the disability sector, where she attends the homes of terminally ill and disabled persons for domestic and hygiene assistance.
The woman has been charged with six counts of steal property in dwelling-house and four counts of make/furnish a statement which is false/misleading.
She was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on October 11.
