I refer to the Leader article "South Village Park close to completion" (Leader, October 2).
I read with interest that Sutherland Shire Council is considering abandoning the idea that the South Village shopping centre space will be used for community purposes, such as a library.
Instead, the other option being considered is to convert it into shops and use the rental income for other community purposes.
Bad idea! It just means that some community purpose expenses will come out of the lease income instead of general revenue.
Keep the South Village space for community purposes as originally proposed.
