As per your previous article in the Leader on March 27 this year about a fake leather jacket scam - the con man appears to have resurfaced again.
I was driving through Sylvania on October 8 when I was asked to pull over by another vehicle. Thinking something may be wrong with my car I did so.
I was then approached by a very friendly Italian speaking man requesting directions to the airport which I gave.
He stated he was a fashion manager from Milan who had been to a fashion show in the CBD the day before and was now heading back to Italy and provided his business card.
He then asked me to go to his car to write down the instructions, where upon he then showed me several leather jackets stating they were worth over $1000 each and wanted to give them to me for my help.
I declined his offer, as it appeared too generous, however, he was insistent and wouldn't take no for an answer and gave me four jackets in a bag. Only then did he ask for some kind of cash recompense.
He was very smooth, fast talking and very quick with reasons for his need of cash and very convincing. I eventually gave him $150 as I was somewhat in a daze as all this occurred so quickly.
I placed the bag in the backseat, only later to find he had taken two jackets back.
