One of the most enduring family films of the early 2000s is coming to Sydney - with a difference.
The seminal 2003 Jack Black comedy School of Rock has been given the stage treatment by none other than legendary musical theatre figure Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Aussie audiences will get a chance to see it from next month.
The stage show has been a smash hit in London and New York, and now the crew of talented students and their rambunctious teacher Dewey Finn are ready to rock at Sydney's Capitol Theatre.
School of Rock tells the story of Mr Finn, a down-on-his-luck musician who makes some extra money by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school after being kicked out of his own band.
He turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band that knows their Zeppelin from their Acca Dacca.
The stage show also features 14 new songs from Webber in the hilarious, high-octane production.
School of Rock stars Sydney Theatre Award-winning actor Brent Hill as Dewey Finn and a host of uber-talented youngsters of the students.
School of Rock is running at the Capitol Theatre from November 10-January 12, including school holiday shows.
Tickets start at $69.90. Bookings: schoolofrockmusical.com.au.
