"How do I get out of here?" is the question that confronts participants in a new virtual reality experience at Club Central Menai.
The Cage, which is designed for young people aged 12 years or over, is a virtual escape room where players team up to solve puzzles and unravel secrets to free themselves or progress to the next level.
"The Cage is a virtual world that you and your friends can move around in freely," said Daniel Bortolussi, founder of 2201 Entertainment, which distributes the system in Australia.
"There are no cords, no sit down, just total interaction with your team, to help each other solve the riddle of 'how do I get out?'
"This is our first location based, purpose built escape room in Australia."
The Cage can be played alone or in conjunction with the existing Laser Tag attraction.
Underworld Laser, for players aged from six years, is played in a purpose built arena that can cater for up to 25 players in each game.
Games are played in an environment of specialty lighting, swirling fog, images, lasers and energetic audio.
Lollipop's Playland, for younger children, is another attraction at the club.
Paul Sexton, owner and managing director of Inside Out Entertainment, which operates the three venues, said his aim was to provide "cutting edge" entertainment, catering for all ages, that tended to be only available in the city.
Mr Sexton said 30 employees from the local area staffed the attractions.
- The Cage opens on Friday night, November 1. Bookings are essential. Call: (02) 9541 0891.
