Coda Batteries was established in Sylvania in 1950 by Arthur Collier, a WW2 fighter pilot who used the skills he had learnt during his war service to manufacture car batteries.
In what was once a cash only society the name CODA came about due to the common phrase "Cash on delivery Arthur".
Father and son Ken and Mark Reader now own and run the business with Mark taking care of the day-to-day matters while Ken keeps an eye on everything.
Coda caters for all of the St George and Sutherland Shire's battery requirements.
"When we first opened in 1950, we never dreamed of mobile phones or laptops," manager Mark Reader said.
"But we've continued to stay up to date on the latest products on the market to ensure you have access to the batteries you need at home, at work and beyond."

They have expertise in all related areas but specialise in batteries for cars, trucks, mobility devices, marine craft and motor bikes as well as solar, deep cycle, fork lift, lithium ion batteries and the latest in start and stop car battery technology.
Their promise is good old fashioned service and quality batteries that will last, available at value for money prices.
They also offer free delivery and installation for car, truck, mobility and forklift batteries in the St George and Sutherland Shire.
Mr Reader said battery requirements and installation can be quite involved these days and the correct advice, selection and installation was vital.
"Otherwise costly mistakes can be made by customers who try to do the lot by themselves," Mr Reader said.
Coda is proud to be involved in the St George and Sutherland Shire with its owner and operators having been born and bred in the area.
They also have also sponsored a wide range of local community and sporting groups over their almost 70 years in the region.
