Australia's adopted son of comedy has been doing a lot of thinking and he's heading to the shire with the intention of having a talk about us and where we're headed.
"This isn't easy but I have to be 100 per cent honest with you, even if what I say makes you laugh, very, very, hard. You had better sit down for this," Barker said.
Barker is bringing his We Need To Talk show to the Sutherland Entertainment Centre on November 29 - and he promises to make sure you have a good time.
"My number one priority is to be funny," Barker said.
"People want to have a laugh, no matter what your message is. I'm not a motivational speaker - I never forget about my job.
"There is an excitement that comes from making a room full of people laugh. You get an adrenaline rush, a thrill from being on stage."
The Californian native has been on the world comedy circuit for close to three decades.
Barker has starred on the hit HBO sitcom Flight of the Conchords and appeared on Australian shows including The Project.
He has also been a regular at major events such as the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
The 45-year-old said the key to his success had been maintaining "mindfulness" while performing.
"Every comedian is different. But the key for me is being aware of what you are saying and how you are saying it," Barker said.
"It's like method acting. You focus on what you're saying."
Barker said he was grateful for his loyal fans' support during his career.
Arj Barker will perform his We Need To Talk show at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre on Friday, November 29.
