Du Min Yi tasted victory at the 2019 World Fencing Championships in Egypt last month.
The Bayside Council resident traveled to Cairo for the event to compete in the veteran 60+ women's sabre, where she won a silver medal after finishing second.
Yi, Australia's number one ranked female in the veteran 60+ category, has won the national open championships seven times as well as the Oceania Championships. She is also the reigning Asia Veterans and Commonwealth Veterans champion.
The result was beyond her wildest expectations, making her family and friends proud. Her exceptional skills along with her commitment are what drove her to become an excellent ambassador for the sport.
