Georges River Council is bringing a free screening of the documentary 2040 to Hurstville, where award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a venture in search of solutions for global warming.
The new film describes itself as a "journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us."
Concerned about his young daughter's future, Damon travels the globe to promote a vision of a much more sustainable world in 20 years.
The Director incorporates dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects, resulting in an uplifting documentary which stands as a beacon of hope, in stark contrast to the dire climate crisis scenario that is more typically presented.
Following the screening, attendees will enjoy a Q&A panel discussion with eco-warriors Natalie Isaacs (1 Million Women), Monica Richter (World Wildlife Fund) and Rickie-Lee McLaurin-Smith (UNSW), to discuss topics raised in the film and the changes that individuals can make to help move towards the 2040 presented in the film.
