Sonny Bill Williams is on a collision course with Australia as coach Mal Meninga confirms he wants the Kangaroos to play Toronto Wolfpack at the end of 2020.
In the lead up to their three-test series against England next year, the Kangaroos are looking at warm up matches against Super League clubs, and the Wolfpack is one of them.
Labelled "rugby's LeBron James" by Wolfpack CEO and chairman Bob Hunter in the $10 million signing announcement, the addition of Williams would skyrocket interest in the friendly against the Kangaroos.
Although the matches are yet to be confirmed, Meninga is supportive of growing the game on a global scale and has been in discussions with Wolfpack owner David Argyle to organise the stop over in Toronto in October next year.
"Sonny Bill Williams will provide an immediate impact for rugby league in the Northern Hemisphere and for the development of rugby in North America," Meninga said.
"When the Kangaroos tour England in 2020 - we will look forward to playing a warm-up game against the Wolfpack as it would create a lot of excitement for the sport."
The last time Williams played against Australia in a rugby league game was during the 2013 World Cup, a 34-2 loss to the Kangaroos in the final at Old Trafford.
Argyle, a Canadian-based Australian mining and resources entrepreneur, told Sky Sports Radio on Friday he wants the Kangaroos in Toronto to capitalise on the exposure Williams will give the sport and the Wolfpack brand.
"I was speaking to big Mal a couple of days ago so hopefully we will be playing the Kangaroos in Toronto in October next year," Argyle said.
"He's been a fantastic supporter of what we're trying to achieve."
Wolfpack will host a press conference with Williams at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium next week.
