A number of Sutherland Shire products will feature in Australia's latest under-23s squad.
Alex Gersbach, Thomas Glover, Jordan Holmes and Ben Folami have all been named in the 25-man squad that will assemble in China this week for a three-match friendly series to be played during the November FIFA international window.
The team, to be led by interim Australia under-23s head coach Gary van Egmond, will play DPR Korea on Friday, Lithuania on Sunday and China PR on Tuesday as part of Australia's preparations for the 2020 AFC under-23 Championships in Thailand.
Three Asian Football Confederation qualification places for the men's football tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be up for grabs at the competition.
Australia have been drawn in group A for the tournament in January alongside the host nation as well as Iraq and Bahrain.
The friendly matches will provide players an opportunity to stake their claim for a place in Australia's AFC under-23 Championship squad.
Former Sydney FC left back Gersbach, who already has six Socceroos caps, moved to Danish club AGF Aarhus on a three-year deal in July after leaving NAC Breda in the Netherlands.
Folami, a 20-year-old former Endeavour Sports High School student, plays with Ipswich Town in the third tier of English football.
Former Aquinas College student Holmes was released by English Premier League club Bournemouth at the end of last season. The 20-year-old goalkeeper joined Ebbsfleet Town, a Kent-based club in the fifth-tier of English football.
Glover, another Sutherland Sharks junior, was released by UEFA Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season. The 21-year-old goalkeeper returned to Australia, signing with A-League club Melbourne City.
Australia also held a training camp in Qatar in October and played two friendly internationals against New Zealand in September as part of their preparations.
