The 50-metre outdoor pool at Sans Souci Leisure Pool has been temporarily closed until further notice.
The pool at 521 Rocky Point Road was closed last Thursday due to an outage with the main pump.
"The indoor pool, the gym and the classes are all still running," Sans Souci Leisure Centre general manager Sheryl Fenn said.
"Programs, squads, learn to swim classes and the gym have been available and running as per usual so the centre have accommodated this since the 50m outdoor pool was closed.
"The team at Sans Souci have all pulled together and have reworked schedules to ensure patrons are taken care of.
"All squads have been accommodated with multiple coaches on deck to ensure quality of sessions are maintained. A majority of the customers have been very supportive and have tried different parts of the centre that are in operation like the gym to vary their workouts.
"A couple of patrons who have never set foot in a gym found themselves on the treadmills looking straight out onto the bay and want to also add this to their daily routine so they have been glad they gave it a go, there are not many places you can directly face water views.
"Georges River Council have been working swiftly to have this freshly renovated pool operational and working for this Friday."
A council spokesperson said, "Following a failure of the water pump connected to the 50-metre outdoor swimming pool at Sans Souci Leisure Centre, and in the interest of public health and safety, Georges River Council has temporarily closed the outdoor pool.
"The water pump contractor has explained that the pump, which is still under warranty, requires parts to fix a fault which has been identified as having occurred during the assembly phase of manufacture.
"The pump is due to be repaired on Friday 15 November. Council apologises for the inconvenience caused to pool users and will advise the community as soon as the pool is operational again via Council's website and social media channels.
"The toddlers' pool and indoor pool are still operational at the centre. For more information please contact the centre by phoning 9529 8544."
The 50m swimming pool and toddler pool were refurbished by Georges River Council in 2018.
The refurbishment included structural concrete repair, joint repair to existing concrete slabs, re-waterproofing and new tiling.
The 50-metre pool was re-tiled and had a new filtration system and heating system installed along with new FINA compliant diving blocks.
Through the NSW State Government's Stronger Communities Fund, a total of $1 million in funding was allocated to Georges River Council's Aquatic Facilities Refurbishment Program for the upgrade.
