A Taren Point-based landscaping company has taken out the top prize at the recent Landscape Excellence Awards.
BNS Landscapes won gold in the Residential Construction - $50,000-$100,000 category of the annual awards, which is run by The Landscape Association, for a project in Gymea Bay.
The landscaping company also won a bronze award in the same category for a villa project it completed at Cronulla.
BNS Landscapes managing director Peter Stubbs said it was an honour to win the award and thanked his great team.
"It is truly a credit to all of my staff," he said. "Patrick Hemsworth was the foreman on this project and the award is a real credit to his outstanding eye for detail."
BNS Landscapes was established by Peter's father Barry in 1973.
Peter left school at 15 and became an apprentice in landscape construction, working with his father until he sold him the business in 2013.
Since taking over as director, Peter has continued to grow the business and now employs 13 staff.
BNS Landscapes has won numerous awards in both residential and commercial landscaping, including an innovation award for seawall replacement at Sylvania Waters.
The Gymea Bay project consisted of various materials, textures and colours combining for a natural and modern outcome.
Judges were impressed by the use of sandstone billet stairs for retaining and tiering of the yard, which created functional level areas throughout the sloping site, allowing great use of space and seamless connections between the various levels.
