Community groups met at 3Bridges Community at Penshurst on Thursday for a roundtable discussion about upcoming changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Federal Member for Banks David Coleman hosted the discussion, which was attended by NDIS Minister Stuart Robert and representatives from 3Bridges Community, Advanced Diversity Services, Kingsgrove Community Centre, Kogarah Community Services, Riverwood Community Centre, St George Community Transport and Jubilee Community Services.
The NDIS is being overhauled in a bid to get people quicker access to suitable support after complaints it was not living up to expectations.
"The rollout of the NDIS is an important issue in our community, with many families benefiting from the program," Mr Coleman said.
"The organisations that were at the event represent hundreds of local families who are involved in the NDIS.
"It's important that local organisations have the opportunity to discuss key issues with the Minister."
"Today's roundtable was an outstanding opportunity to hear from people at the coalface of the of the world-leading NDIS," Mr Robert said.
"I thank everyone involved for their contributions and insights. I will take this input on board as we deliver the final 20 per cent of the scheme."
