The collapse of White Ribbon Australia was not enough to stop an annual walk calling for the end of violence against women.
Hundreds of people took to the streets of Cronulla today for the Sutherland Shire White Ribbon Walk, which asks men to step up and say no to violence against women.
Anti-Violence movement, Enough is Enough, said recently it remained committed to advocating for safer environments and would continue to recognise the global movement of White Ribbon, which began in 1981 and came to Australia in 1992.
For many years, Sutherland Shire school students were among those who donned white ribbons on November 25 to coincide with International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The first Sutherland Shire White Ribbon Walk was organised due to the efforts of Woolooware High School students before the event expanded to include community services personnel, police, Sutherland Shire Council representatives, businesses and community members.
This year's walk started at Don Lucas Reserve at 10.30am and ended in Dunningham Park, where there was an official ceremony and free barbecue.
