Woronora Memorial Park invites the community to share in one of its most popular events of the year, Carols under the Stars to be held on Saturday, December 7 from 6.30pm.
With record numbers attending last year's event, Woronora Memorial Park is expecting to welcome another big crowd to sing some of their favourite carols together, as they celebrate the traditional spirit of Christmas.
"The 'Christmas Crackers' band are always a big hit with the audience, and really help everyone get into the mood" said Carolyn Dowe, Senior Manager, Customer Care at Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries NSW.
Some of the evening's most enthusiastic fans are the children, for whom the night is made extra special with a visit from Santa.
"Christmas is a wonderful time for family, and there's nothing as heart-warming as seeing the kids dancing to their favourite songs," Ms Dowe said.
The event offers plenty of fun for the whole family, including face painting, balloon animals, free sausage sizzle, and colouring in activities for children of all ages to participate.
Groups are welcome to pitch a blanket on the lawn and enjoy an evening picnic or relax in the chairs provided and enjoy the special, once-a-year show.
Visitors are also invited to bring a gift for Anglicare Toys 'n' Tucker Christmas Appeal, or donate a gold coin to receive a candle or a booklet. Gift ideas include non-perishable Christmas food items, or children's toys in original packaging and help give those who would otherwise go without at Christmas.
"Carols are a wonderful way to bring the community together at Christmas," Ms Dowe said.
"All our staff look forward to it. We know there are some people out there who will be missing loved ones at this time of the year and coming to the Carols is an opportunity to remember those we have lost, while feeling the special warmth of being with our family, friends and neighbours."
All members of the community are invited to attend Woronora Memorial Park's Annual
Christmas Carols at 6:30pm on Saturday, December 7 at 121 Linden Street, Sutherland.
