Sutherland Shire-based country music star Luke O'Shea has notched up another three nominations in next month's Golden Guitar Awards.
Some of the biggest names in the industry have vied for The Golden Guitar Awards, which are presented at the end of the annual Country Music Festival in Tamworth.
O'Shea is a finalist in the APRA AMCOS Song of the Year category for Sing Me A Story, a duet he performed with Lyn Bowtell.
The song, his first release in three years, has also been nominated for Heritage Song of the Year and Vocal Collaboration of the Year.
O'Shea, who already has nine Golden Guitar Awards to his name, said he was grateful that Sing Me A Story had been so well received.
"Lyn Bowtell and myself are so very grateful and super appreciative of the support our duet has received from all aspects of the Australian country music industry," he said.
"It's been a long time between drinks for me personally and the fact the leading single from my upcoming album has been able to connect with peers and audiences to this extent is very humbling and deeply satisfying."
O'Shea is no stranger to anthemic songs, and Sing Me A Story is no exception.
"This song is all about our love of a good story, how we can apply those stories to our own lives and learn from them," he said.
O'Shea wrote the song with Felicity Urquhart in front of 30 of their peers during a songwriting retreat - a process he described as "daunting".
He said a line in the song came to him in a dream and set the course of the song and upcoming album of the same name, There In The Ochre.
O'Shea said the song was the perfect lead-in single for the album because it best encapsulated what he was most passionate about; "singing up this country, its people, its history and hopefully its very bright future".
The 2020 Tamworth Country Music Festival is on January 17-26. The Golden Guitar Awards will be presented January 25, 2020.
O'Shea and Bowtell are currently on a national tour with their show, Love & Laughter. For details click here
