Traffic flow will be improved for motorists using the busy southbound off ramp on Alfords Point Road at Illawong, with an extended 80km/h speed limit.
Member for Miranda and Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads Eleni Petinos said Transport for NSW will extend the length of the 80km/h speed zone along the off ramp, so it is consistent with the speed limit along Alfords Point Road, from Wednesday 18 December.
"The change will help reduce the risk of rear end crashes and allow more time to slow down on the approach to the roundabout at the intersection with Brushwood Drive, Fowler Road and Old Illawarra Road," Ms Petinos said.
"The start of the 50km/h speed zone will be moved around 160 metres south of the existing location, and signs approaching the off ramp will be improved so road users are warned of the speed limit well in advance."
