There were smiles all round this week when Santa's little elves got to work spreading Christmas cheer at St Basil's residential aged care at Miranda.
Children and staff from Poppi's Preschool and Long Day Care at Miranda got to work making and decorating Christmas cards as part of the Be a Santa to a Senior program.
They then delivered the cards to the aged care residents before enjoying a special morning tea together.
The program was developed by Home Instead Senior Care, which provides in-home care and companionship services for elderly residents in their homes.
Home Instead Senior Care Sutherland Shire community engagement manager Karen Buckley said the program was a way to give back to the local community.
"Not only do we help seniors remain independent and stay at home longer, we want to work with the community to show our seniors that we are thinking of them over this festive season," she said.
"Be a Santa to a Senior is a fantastic opportunity to instil values of kindness and a sense of giving back for our younger generation and connect them with the local ageing community."
