Georges River Council is seeking community feedback on its Georges River 2050 - Leading for Change (2050) document, which is on Public Exhibition until January 21.
Georges River Council mayor Kevin Greene said that the document aims to identify how to unlock strengths and opportunities within the local area.
"2050 strives to make Georges River, and ultimately Greater Sydney, the best place it can be, a place where residents are Connected, Naturally," Councillor Greene said.
"The Georges River of 2050 will be an accessible, green, diverse and innovative place, community and economy.
"It will be a place where residents have strong connections to the river, nature, local history, diverse communities, recreation and services, public transport, jobs, information and technology.
"2050 outlines a pathway for achieving this vision and is Council's promise to the city that we will be future focused, ambitious and committed to being a positive leader for change," he said.
2050 responds to global trends and challenges. The document provides focus for further work and policy directions, while acknowledging the achievements Council has made and the work currently underway. 2050 illustrates how, with consistent, strategic decisions, Council can achieve goals set out.
The document also aligns with National, NSW and Georges River policy and planning directions while pushing the boundaries.
In 2050, Hurstville and Kogarah will be highly successful commercial and cultural centres that provide local jobs.
They are centres with research institutions, universities and cultural assets.
Feedback will be reported back to Council following the exhibition period, including submissions for final adoption. Georges River 2050 - Leading for Change (2050) is available for public review and comment at: yoursay.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/georges-river-2050
