St George solidified their place in the top six with a convincing win over Mosman on Saturday.
The NSW Premier Cricket competition resumed after the Christmas break, with Saints travelling to Allan Border Field for the one-day, round nine fixture.
Mosman captain Ashley Doolan sent Saints in to bat after winning the toss, with St George reaching 233 before they were bowled out in the final over.
Opener Luke Bartier notched his fourth half century of the season, top scoring for Saints with 60.
But it was Adam Whatley's unbeaten 59 that pushed St George to a competitive total. Whatley had arrived at the crease with Saints at 5-108 before the visitors lost another two quick wickets to be struggling at 7-120.
Whatley's effort and double figure contributions from tailenders Peter Francis (18), Kaleb Phillips (21) and Joseph Graham (11) helped St George past 230 to have them in the game.
A team effort with the ball put St George in control from almost the start of Mosman's innings, with frontliners Trent Copeland (2-34), Francis (2-17) and Bartier (2-11) all picking up early scalps.
Tom Engelbrecht then cleaned up the tail taking 3-36 as Mosman were bowled out for 135 inside 30 overs.
The bonus point victory saw St George climb to 37 points, level with three teams in equal fourth place on the table including Sydney, Bankstown and Eastern Suburbs.
Meanwhile, Sutherland slumped to their sixth defeat of the season, going down to competition leaders Sydney University by five wickets.
After being sent in at University Oval, Sutherland reached 6-213 from their 50 overs with openers Jarryd Biviano (61) and captain Chris Williams (52) enjoying a patient 120-run opening stand.
But when the pair fell within 10 runs of one another Sutherland were unable to claw back the momentum in their innings.
In reply, Sydney Uni made relatively light work of the run chase, reaching the total for the loss of five wickets with four and a half overs to spare.
The loss saw Sutherland slip to 15th on the table, 19 points outside the finals places.
St George and Sutherland will return home for one-day fixtures in round 10 on Saturday.
Saints welcome Campbelltown-Camden to Hurstville Oval, while the Sharks host Blacktown Mounties at Glenn McGrath Oval, Caringbah.
Play starts at 10am.
