Residents who live near Woolooware Golf Course are being asked to keep a lookout for suspicious activity after a golf cart was stolen and set alight recently.
A post on Woolooware Golf Course and Pro Shop's Facebook page said firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW Cronulla brigade were required to put out the golf cart blaze following a call from a member of the public in the early hours of January 2.
"It would have been quite a possibility for multiple trees to catch ablaze and even surrouding houses if it was left for longer," the post said.
Police are investigating.
It was the second act of vandalism in the space of a week, after signage was also damaged.
Nearby residents, particularly those living in and around Woolooware Road, Amber Lane and Short Street were asked to keep "an eye and ear out for any suspicious activity".
"Woolooware Golf Club is a public facility for all to use; a green space to be enjoyed," the post said.
"The last thing we need is senseless vandalism, our asset being damanged and for surrounding houses to be put in danger."
Anyone with information is asked to call Woolooware Golf Club on 9523 3882.
