Sutherland Shire Council is confident its 2020 Seniors Festival program will be the best yet.
The festival, which will be jam-packed with activities, will run over 33 days from February 4 until March 8.
It will include entertainment, films, health and wellbeing events, art and craft, hobbies and interest groups, educational seminars and talks, and opportunities to explore the great outdoors.
"Seniors Festival is our chance to celebrate and recognise seniors for the many wonderful contributions they make to the community," said mayor, Carmelo Pesce.
Cr Pesce said one highlight would be a Retirement and Recreation Expo, providing the opportunity to explore activities, community groups and clubs with which to connect.
The expo will be a full day event at Gymea Tradies on Saturday, February 15 , and children, grandchildren and friends are welcome.
"It's an opportunity to see what the shire has to offer our retirees including gardening, exercise, computers, history, volunteering, music, Probus, Lions, Older Women's Network and more," Cr Pesce said.
"The Expo will focus on wellness, connecting people and encouraging life-long learning.
"There's also a volunteering expo on February 21 where you can speak directly with community organisations about how to get involved."
Cronulla Library will screen a series of short films, called Seniors in Shorts.
The annual Seniors Luncheon will be held on March 3 with free musical entertainment and lunch at Sutherland Entertainment Centre.
The luncheon provides an opportunity to celebrate the shire's centenarians
Sutherland Shire Libraries will host talks on wills and estates, taming technology and, for travellers, "Walking Japan's Camino".
Activities in the natural environment will include a guided night time walk with torches through the Royal National Park and a Bushcare Bus-About, to learn about habitat, conservation and bush regeneration.
Art lovers will be able to take a guided tour of the Artexpress exhibition and join a still life watercolour painting class with expert tuition at Hazelhurst.
