A Melbourne mum wakes up every day waiting to see her little boy's smile before remembering the toddler is dead.
Brendan Pallant, 33, is charged with murdering two-year-old Jaidyn Gomes at Langwarrin in September last year.
The child's mother, Stacie Saggers, says it's impossible to accept the fact her little boy is gone.
"I wake up every day thinking that my little boy is still here. I wake up feeling happy, waiting to see my little boy's beautiful smile and bright blue eyes," she told reporters through tears outside Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
"All I can do from here on in is live with happy memories of Jaidyn held in our hearts forever.
"Mummy loves and misses you so much."
Pallant had been due to appear in court on Wednesday but was not transported from custody.
His case was adjourned for a committal hearing on May 13.
