After bushfires, smoke haze, flooding rain and this week's ferocious storm, there was only one place to be today.
Thousands of people headed to beaches at Cronulla on Wednesday to enjoy a beautiful summer's day.
Among those making the most of the weather were Natalie Trpeski and her children, Anabelle, 3, and Nicholas, 2.
"It has been a tragic period with the bushfires and other weather problems, but today is lovely and it's so good to see so many people here enjoying it," she said.
Ms Trpeski, who grew up at Oyster Bay and now lives at Picnic Point, said she would be back on the weekend for Australia Day celebrations.
Australia Day is forecast to be fine, with a slight chance of a shower, partly cloudy and with a maximum 30C.
There is the slight chance of a thunderstorm.
Light winds will become northeasterly, 15 to 20 km/h during the day.
