A former well-known ladieswear and lingerie shop at Caringbah will be transformed into a trendy wine bar.
Development consent has been given for the works, costing $88,000, at 361 Port Hacking Road, a few doors from the Caringbah Hotel.
The shop once housed Bettina's Ladieswear and Lingerie.
The bar, catering for up to 60 patrons, will serve craft beer on tap, wine, limited spirits and a tapas style menu.
There will be no outdoor seating or any adjacent "active areas".
The development application (DA) said the licensee and owner of the proposed business currently worked in a small bar, Skeeta's Local, in Oatley.
"The model for the new business is based directly on what is currently operating in Oatley," the DA said. "This business has been in operation for five years."
Approved opening hours are 4pm to 11pm on Wednesday and Thursday, 3pm to midnight on Friday and Saturday and 3pm to 10pm on Sunday.
Live acoustic music will be played on Sunday afternoons but no other entertainment is proposed.
