Motorists travelling through Mascot are advised of changed traffic conditions on O'Riordan Street and Joyce Drive across the next three weeks, as work ramps up on the Airport North project.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the upgrades will improve traffic flow and connections to and from the Airport and Port Botany.
"The NSW Government is delivering the Airport North project to ease congestion for all road users. Key features of the project include widening O'Riordan Street to provide six lanes between Bourke Road and Robey Street," the spokesperson said.
"Work is progressing well, but these temporary traffic changes will allow us to carry out vital work to ensure there are long-term benefits for the local area."
The spokesperson said work will involve connecting underground cabling and installing new surfaces, drainage as well as traffic lights.
"Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow more travel time and follow the direction of signs and traffic control as lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place," the spokesperson said.
Traffic changes will include:
9pm Friday, February 14 to 5am Monday, February 17: One of the lanes on O'Riordan Street heading towards the international airport will be closed between Robey Street and Joyce Drive. The right turn from O'Riordan Street into King Street will also be closed during this time. Motorists can turn right into Coward Street as an alternative option.
11pm Saturday, February 22 to 7am on Sunday, February 23: Traffic control will be in place at the intersection of O'Riordan Street and Joyce Drive to install new traffic lights.
9pm Friday, February 28 to 5am Monday, March 1: One of the southbound lanes on O'Riordan Street heading towards the international airport will be closed between Robey Street and Joyce Drive.
