Lugarno's James Fitzgerald will direct a play this week as part of the Short+Sweet theatre festival.
Now in its 19th year, Short+Sweet runs from February to April and showcases 10, 10-minute plays, with the line-up changing each week.
This week sees one of the world's leading monologue writers, Australian Pete Malicki, return to the festival with The Happiest Day of My Life.
James Fitzgerald directs the play about Becca, who keeps planning her perfect wedding day, only to have her husbands die under mysterious circumstances.
Short+Sweet runs Thursdays to Sundays at the Tom Mann Theatre, Surry Hills.
The festival again features judges' voting and the People's Choice audience votes.
Among the industry judges this year are actors Amanda Muggleton, Tony Bonner, Peter Mochrie, Peter Kowitz and Danny Adcock, and casting agents Faith Martin and Jo Briant.
The Happiest Day of My Life runs today until Sunday with performances at 7.30pm Thursday to Saturday and 1pm and 6pm Sunday.
Tickets are $27 for adults, $24 concession, and $15 for full-time students on Thursdays.
