A man, 80, has been charged over the historical alleged sexual assault of three girls in Sutherland Shire and other locations four decades ago.
Police allege the offences occurred in Sutherland, Jannali, Gymea, Padstow and Mittagong between 1982 and 1983 against girls aged between 10 and 17, who were known to the man.
In October 2019, detectives from Nepean Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving reports of the alleged historical sexual abuse.
Following extensive inquiries, an 80-year-old man was arrested at a house on Lethbridge Avenue, Werrington on Monday, March 9.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with eight counts of sexual assault indecent act with person under 16 years, four counts of sexual assault incite indecent act person under 16 years, five counts of carnal knowledge, attempt carnal knowledge and common assault.
The man was refused bail when he appeared in Penrith Local Court on Monday.
