Sutherland Shire volunteer bushfire fighters will be treated to a day on the water to thank them for their efforts and bravery over summer.
Royal Motor Yacht Club Port Hacking is taking 240 firefighters, who are described as "local heroes", on an outing, which will climax with a raft up.
Club commodore Steve McManus said 29 boats would be involved in the thank you gesture on Sunday.
Mr McManus said, after a leisurely cruise along the Hacking River, the boats would join in a raft up - tying up in a horseshoe shape - in South West Arm.
The firefighters, together with 100 skippers and crew, would then be entertained by musicians on a raft in the middle while enjoying a barbecue brought up the site by boat, as well as "possibly a few drinks".
"It's a beautiful part of the world up there," he said.
Mr McManus said the club had been fund-raising for the shire's 13 volunteer brigades following the bushfires.
The idea of doing something personal for the volunteers had come up during discussions.
"We are very grateful for their efforts and bravery over a very difficult summer, which saw much of our beautiful state ravaged by devastating bushfires," he said.
"The resources of volunteer firefighting services were stretched to the max, including that of our 13 local Sutherland Shire RFS brigades.
"This Sunday, the club is treating 240 of these local legends to a cruise of the beautiful Hacking River, to say thank you.
"Thank you for their courage, bravery and commitment to defending many homes, businesses and lives against an unprecedented bushfire season."
Mr McManus also thanked the RMYC Port Hacking community and members who had volunteered their vessels to take part in this initiative.
"We now have twenty-nine boats and skippers to ferry our local heroes around, which will make for an unbelievable raft up.
"We're looking forward to a magical day on the water and being able to share this fantastic experience with you all."
