We have had some good swell in these uncertain times,it just depends how long we will be able to still surf it is the big question.
This morning the surf conditions are ideal,4-5 ft an incoming tide and clean offshore winds -have a surf and go home and hibernate.
Cronulla has been swept clean over the last few days with a new head high south swell and some strong onshore winds-the wind did swing to the north east yesterday but it wont bring any nor east swell with it yet.
The short term forecast is for the mainly 3-4 ft swell to go due south and than slowly move around to the sou-east on Friday before going east nor-east on the weekend.
Apart from a brief nor-west period this morning the winds wont be kind, blowing predominately onshore until Saturday morning,when we will probably be in lockdown and wont be able to take advantage of it- so I would surf anything if I was you.
In a tough time for community sport, Sandshoes Boardriders Club got lucky and just managed to squeeze in their latest club round.
In a month where the World Surf League cancelled all events, at all levels of competition, through the end of May, both Garie and Cronulla Girls Boardriders also postponed events.
Shoes, which can be unpredictable for contestable waves got the jump on other Surfing Sutherland Shire clubs with their weekend falling before the lockdown and they have now held two point-score events this year.
In decent waves for the juniors, the number one position was grabbed by Kash Brown, followed by his younger brother Zai and Jaya Wardana.
Open competitors dug deep in the conditions with Jarrod Horner on top, followed by Tommy Mulder and Blake Sawtell.
In the Masters, Guy Turner found just enough to grab first place ahead of Steve Cryer and Donn Salisbury.
In these challenging times, Surfing Australia supports the AOC's position that it is untenable to assemble an Australian Olympic Team in July, for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Surfing Australia Chair Layne Beachley said given the current global circumstances,they support the recent decision made by the AOC, and appreciate they've put the health and wellbeing of athletes, coaches, families, support staff, and community first.
"We also respect the IOC process, in stating more time is needed to work through the enormous amount of complexities, which will lead to further clarity about a postponement date."Beachltey said
In light of the continuing global COVID-19 pandemic, and in the interest of the safety of athletes, fans, staff, officials and the local community, the ISA has decided with the government of El Salvador to postpone the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games to June 6 - 14.
These new provisional dates are in agreement with the World Surf League and align with their decision in March to suspend their season until the end of May.
The ISA will continue to work in close consultation with the IOC in the ensuing days and weeks concerning potential changes to the qualification process, and any eventual contingency plans, in particular related to the role of the WSG in Olympic qualification.
The ISA continues to be guided by information provided by public health experts and authorities as to the staging of the event. The safety of the athletes and teams, and everyone involved with the WSG, remains the ISA's highest priority.
