Business owner Ray Nelson reckons Scott Morrison is the right man to lead Australia through the coronavirus crisis given his past record.
Mr Nelson, the operator of Zimzala restaurant-cafe on Cronulla beach, recalled what Mr Morrison said after defying the polls and public expectations by leading the Coalition to a shock election win last year.
"I have always believed in miracles," Mr Morrison told Australians on election night.
Mr Nelson said he thought Mr Morrison deserved full credit for the tough job he was doing.
"But, I think it's time for another miracle Scott," he said.
Along with thousands of other business owners, Mr Nelson is still in "a state of shock" over the action being taken to try and slow the spread of coronavirus.
About 30 Zimzala staff were placed on leave without pay when the restaurant was forced to close on Monday. Takeaway coffee and limited food is still available.
"I trust what the authorities have done, and I think they are doing it in the interests of the majority of the people," Mr Nelson said.
"I think we all just have to batten down...and hope Scott can pull off another miracle."
Mr Morrison said on Tuesday, "For most Australians, 2020 is going to be their toughest year, and what we have seen unfold just this week has been demonstrating just that."
