Hurstville Private Hospital has brought in strict new screening measures for all staff and visitors entering the premises.

Since March 16, everyone including all patients and staff, must undergo routine temperature checks and a screening questionnaire prior to entering the hospital.

Visiting hours have been restricted to one visitor per patient between 6pm and 7pm each day throughout the hospital, except for the maternity unit, which has banned all visitors apart from the admitted patient's partner.

"We are currently only permitting the partner of mother and baby to visit our maternity unit," a Hurstville Private Hospital spokeswoman said.

"All other family members and friends are now not permitted to visit the maternity unit.

"In addition, all maternity tours and antenatal classes are temporarily cancelled until further notice."
