The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in council areas covering St George and Sutherland Shire increased by 10 in 24-hours.
The latest NSW Health figures, up to 8pm on March 26, are:
- Sutherland Shire: 44 (an increase of three on the previous 24 hour period).
- Georges River: 18 (increase of five).
- Bayside - 19 (increase of two).
The shire continues to have the seventh highest number of cases in the state, but also has one of the largest populations - more than 218,000 residents.
Waverley council area, which includes Bondi remains at the top of the list, with numbers rising by 15 to 131.
The number of coronavirus cases in NSW increased by 212 in the 24 hours to 8pm, on Friday, March 27, bringing the total number in the state to 1617.
Nearly 85,000 people have been tested and returned negative results.
As of Saturday, 147 COVID-19 cases were being treated in NSW, including 22 cases in intensive care units and, of those, 11 required ventilators.
"What these figures reveal is that testing for COVID-19 is occurring at a significant rate across the state and we urge everyone to follow NSW Health advice about social distancing, personal hygiene and staying at home wherever possible," a NSW Health spokesman said.
"Sadly, a female patient in her 90s passed away in hospital this morning. This patient was a resident of the Dorothy Henderson Lodge.
"NSW Health passes on our condolences to the family of this patient. Eight people have now died in NSW having tested positive to COVID-19."
