The State Government's Greater Sydney Commission has given Bayside Council's Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) the tick of approval.
The LSPS provides a strategic land use narrative for Bayside and aligns local planning and service delivery with the Regional and District Plans.
Council's Draft Local Environmental Plan also received Gateway determination and will be exhibited online in April 2020.
The draft Bayside LEP provides Council with a set of planning controls to guide local development in Bayside.
"These are major milestones for Bayside. It's been a great team effort over the last two years with council working extensively with the community and key stakeholders to get these very important documents right," Mayor Joe Awada said.
"I would like to thank everyone who took the time to talk to our planners providing comments and professional advice.
"Everyone who lives in Bayside should take the time to examine these documents. The final LSPS is available to view and the LEP is open for comment during the exhibition in April 2020 and you are encouraged to review and provide comment as you see appropriate. Your feedback will form part of the final plan endorsed by Council," Councillor Awada said.
"The Bayside LSPS contains planning priorities and actions for land use, and provides Council with a framework for creating community places and spaces until 2036.
"These documents impact everyone. If you own a home or are planning on building anything from a house to a high rise please take the time to have your say.
"Your voice on these matters is important to me and my fellow councillors," Councillor Awada said.
The documents will available online in April: https://haveyoursay.bayside.nsw.gov.au/
