The number of confirmed new coronavirus cases in NSW has risen after falling for three consecutive days.
NSW Health said an additional 150 cases were diagnosed in the 24 hours up till 8pm on Tuesday, March 31, taking the total to 2182.
A woman, aged in her nineties, from Dorothy Henderson Lodge, has become the ninth person to die in NSW.
The number of confirmed cases in St George and Sutherland Shire increased by eight in the 24 hours up till 8pm on Monday, May 30, taking the total to 124.
- Sutherland Shire: 59 cases (an increase of two on the previous 48 hour period).
- Georges River: 33 (increase of one).
- Bayside: 32 (increase of five).
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said numbers were influenced by the number of tests carried out and people should "not look at the number of cases, and whether they are up or down on the day".
"It doesn't take much for things to get out of control," she said.
"At this stage, we are still to an extent controlling the spread but we know we can't do that forever because this virus is virulent and spreads very quickly and, very unfortunately, too effectively.
"We must maintain our vigilance. We can't take our foot off the pedal. We can't relax, and I know that's a difficult thing to say when so many families are struggling and adjusting to the new arrangements."
Ms Berejiklian sad more than 103,000 tests had been carried out.
"The more you test, the more you can identify and exclude people and isolate those who do and make sure their contacts are on high alert," she said.
