No one can argue that staff at St George and Sutherland hospitals are on the frontline in the war against coronavirus.
Now local organisations have shown their thanks by donating Easter eggs to hospital staff.
When Club Central at Hurstville and Menai were forced to shut their doors as part of restrictions to slow the spread of coronavirus, they were left with a large number of Easter eggs they had ordered to provide raffle prizes for their members.
Club Central group marketing manager Chantelle Chapman said since the mega Easter raffles couldn't be run as normal this year, they decided to put the chocolate to good use.
"We couldn't think of a group more deserving of some sweetness than the doctors, nurses and hospital staff who are working so hard to keep us all healthy and well," Mrs Chapman said.
"We hope it brings them a moment of enjoyment amongst all the stress and worry."
Meanwhile, Fardoulis Chocolates at Kogarah also decided to donate Easter bunnies and gift bags to hospital staff.
Fardoulis Chocolates spokeswoman Anna Fardoulis said the family wanted to thank hospital staff for their hard work during these difficult times.
"We are forever grateful for the care and compassion of hospital staff and glad we have them to rely on," Ms Fardoulis said.
St George Hospital acting general manager Rebecca Tyson thanked Club Central and Fardoulis Chocolates for the "generous donations".
"It's great to see our local community supporting our healthcare workers and recognising the work they do," Ms Tyson said.
"Our staff are working harder than ever at the moment and acts of kindness like these are greatly appreciated."
Sutherland Hospital general manager Vicki Weeden thanked the two organisations for the "amazing gesture".
"We have such a thoughtful and kind community," Ms Weeden said.
"Thank you for recognising the hard work done by all of our staff. These treats will definitely brighten up their day."
