Being sleepless in Cronulla leads to $1000 fine
A Cronulla man, who told police he took a drive to the Blue Mountains because he couldn't sleep, is among 24 new cases in which people have been charged or fined under coronavirus laws.
Three people, who were issued with a $1000 penalty infringement notice (PIN), were from or in Sutherland Shire or St George.
The cases were:
- A 29-year-old Kogarah man has been issued with a PIN by officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command for failing to comply with a Public Health Order after he was found on Gap Road at Watsons Bay about 1.50am on Saturday.
- A 34-year-old man from Cronulla has been issued with a PIN by police from Blue Mountains Police Area Command for failing to comply with a Public Health Order after he was found at Hawkesbury Heights Lookout about 2.55am on Saturday. He allegedly told police he was unable to sleep and had driven to the lookout.
- About 7.50am on Saturday, officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended a golf club in Wolli Creek after reports of a person acting aggressively. After failing to comply with the move on direction, the 46-year-old man was issued a $1000 PIN for fail to comply with noticed direction in relation to section 7/8/9 - COVID-19.
