Torino Food Service is a broadline food service to the restaurant, hotel, catering and manufacturing industries but is now selling bulk products at wholesale prices to the public directly from their warehouse in their walk-in pickup area as well as home deliveries.
Families can share and save money as well as now purchase ingredients that their favourite restaurants use.
"By opening up our doors we are hoping to help the public by offering products that have become hard for some to source and offering real savings for bulk purchases for all families," general manager Paul Carageorge said. "Not only will this help people get what they need, but it will keep all our hardworking staff employed.
"With the loss of most of our clients as a direct result of COVID-19, we had to rely on those clients still doing deliveries to homes or takeaway and pickup. Turnover has dropped by more than 50 per cent however we have not let any staff go.
"We have responded to the crisis by opening our warehouse and in an e-commerce capacity to the public."
Torino Food Service Pty Ltd will continue to supply normally to those clients still able to operate but they have also introduced a direct food service to the public with a selection of products for the home either in bulk or retail sizes.
Clients can come in and inspect the showroom and purchase directly or order online.
The product range is extensive including cleaning products, dairy products, eggs, small goods, frozen seafood, chicken products, a huge range of dry goods from pasta to rice, canned goods and top shelf products like saffron, porcine, gluten free products, frozen breads, Asian groceries, local cheeses, small goods and much more.
"Our origins tie into the Italian food service industry so we are a large importer of many items from Italy," Paul said. "Items such as cheeses, pastas, flour, antipasto items, olives, parma, ham, olive oils, balsamic vinegar and many other delicacies.
"Our website is now e-commerce friendly, and our warehouse can cater for the demand from the community. It has also made us look carefully at our product lines and look to consolidate items that are both commercially and domestically friendly."
It's easy for customers as Torino is now offering at home services and delivery from Monday to Friday with a maximum 48-hour turnaround.
You can now view all this via their website or call to speak with someone in their friendly call centre.
Operating since the early '90s in Marrickville, support this family business who are supporting their staff and families with ongoing work and employment.
"The shutdown, while unprecedented and very necessary in the short to medium term, is hurting a lot of Australians; by opening to the public we are offering real savings for bulk purchases for all families," Paul added.
