Too many levels of government and bureaucracy are man-handling the community with regard to containing the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.
We are not allowed to be responsible for our own well-being and use of common sense when exercising.
A case in point is that Georges River Council will not allow bicycle riding on its Velodrome due to COVID19 yet people are cycling on roads and cycling paths everywhere in Sydney today.
From my 30 years experience, there is usually only one person riding on the Hurstville Oval Velodrome at any time during the day.
The Council is allowing cricket practice nets to be used adjacent to the Velodrome. Does this mean that cricketers are a noninfectious breed?
You can ride on the road that surrounds the Velodrome on Hurstville Oval and risk injury but not on the Velodrome where it is safe.
This is local government at its worst, stupidest and meanest.
I realise this issue is trivial, but our freedom and liberty are at stake due to a Government created medical crisis.
Thank you for considering my views.

Editor's note: The velodrome is classified as a "community facility" under the NSW Public Health Order and therefore Georges River Council is required to close the facility.
Images of war
The images of war are either of epic glory or great tragedy. They do not measure up against the pathos of who those who suffocated in small craters filled with mud or those who drowned, falling off landing craft, drowning because their packs were too heavy and cumbersome to remove.
My knowledge of this comes from Australian writer, Paul Ham.

Coalition management
The rollout out of the so-called coronavirus tracing app, which might have been simple to arrange, has done quite a few about- turns and backflips and appears to be even less organised than the management of the pink batts scheme, which the Coalition strongly castigated by Royal Commission.
However, this doesn't nearly compare to the Coalition botched cruise ship quarantining, which so far has avoided serious scrutiny and criminal charges.

Cook Landing anniversary
Cook's achievement was most significant, leading to British settlement in 1788.
The historical records of Cook also indicate he was a brilliant but also a compassionate master mariner.
He offered and gave rings of beads to Aboriginal children on what is now the Kurnell shoreline.
Indirectly, and in the long term, Cook contributed to Australians benefiting from democracy, freedoms and one of the best standards of living in the world.

Georges River LEP 2020
The overall content is not a concern to most; however there is an underlying concern about the Proposed Planning Controls applicable to a large portion of properties within Lugarno.
Currently, there is a Foreshore Scenic Protection Area which, I think but cannot easily verify, covers the majority of the Suburb, at least from the river to the shops at Chivas Hill. Basically, this provides for a Minimum of 1000 SqMblock of land for Dual Occupancy.
The proposal is that this be reduced to 650 Sq M/block and applies to a large number of properties. I cannot get access to what streets etc.
For those living in Wayne Ave as an example adjacent to Gannons Park, those on the eastern side remain in FSPA whilst those on the western side are excluded. This will open up large quantities of property for development as Dual Occupancy throughout the Suburb, something that will have an environmental impact which I think is being overlooked.
Further investigation would be very helpful.

Hair today gone tomorrow
I read with interest the views of a salon operator in the Shire closing her salon and quotes, "they all should be closed".
It was clear to my staff and I from the outset that the Prime Minister encouraged all businesses to open where possible, they were "essential". Essential to assist the economy through and out the other side of the COVID 19 period. This definitely included Hairdressing Salons.
My staff and I will be grateful to receive the Federal and State Government financial assistance, however, I also believe that we must commit our "hairdressing services" to all our clients and ensure that salons remain open through this pandemic exercise and support the Prime Minister's request.
Our salon at Penshurst operates well within the additional health guidelines and our key priority is to ensure a safe environment with our ongoing professional and friendly service.
We all know, that it is not just about hair in salons. Salons also offer that personnel and community connection and therapy for clients.
They needed this outlet during COVID 19
STAY OPEN
If your hairdresser is closed, we're open and operating Tues to Sat "Without Fear"
