Downhill mountain biker Cassie Voysey's World Cup dream was put on hold this year with three rounds being postponed and others to be re-scheduled in Europe.
Cassie said this is her last year in the junior ranks (u19) and she will get to the World Titles and a World Cup event, but she has to go hard to make it count.
"Next year I'll pick my favourite World Cup tracks to compete on and build up some points in the open's "
All is not lost though, as the 18-year-old Engadine resident works at Taren Points Fraser Cycles, which is one of the exercise business's that have been kept busy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Union of Cyclist International has approved the calendar for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz Mountain Bike World Cup as well as the next UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
The UCI World Championships will take place in Austria from 5-11 October 2020 and Cassie has to get back on the bike if she wants to compete.
Before the events being shut down, Cassie said she was fortunate enough to fly to New Zealand and compete at CrankWorx.
"My first race was the Air Downhill which I won (3rd year in a row), then the Dual Slalom which I also won."
She also won her fourth National title at the MTBA National Championships in Bright. She was announced as the MTBA Junior Female Downhill rider of the year at the Australian Cycling Awards this year.
Now she has to keep training in isolation which has been possible under the restrictions and await to see the outcome of her long-planned World Title campaign.
